Connect42 is a purpose driven not-for-profit organisation that works with people to build their communication skills so they can live whole lives in connection with others.
We do this by working one-on-one and in groups, in prisons, and in community with families, children, with people experiencing homelessness and other disadvantage, and people with disability, as well as the broader community. Our aim is to create connection through language, literacy and love. Connect42 is a registered charity and has DGR status.
Connect42 is looking for a skills-based Board Member to complement our existing board. The skills we are looking for are in Business Development/Fundraising – details on these requirements are below.
More broadly, Board Member’s responsibilities include advising on strategic plans, participation in meetings, supporting the purpose of the organisation; governance oversight to the organisation, and related activities in your skill area. While we are largely a governance board, as the organisation grows there will be times when you will roll up your sleeves and help with things like attending events, grant writing, representing the organisation and contributing to content.
To be successful as a Board Member you should have significant professional leadership experience and strong diplomatic skills. An outstanding Board Member will be passionately committed to the organisation’s mission.
Business Development/Fundraising Role:
As a not for profit and registered charity, we are looking to grow both the commercialisation of IP in the form of existing and future programs and services, and our charitable donations. The skills we are looking for in this role include:
- Strong local and national networks
- Demonstrated capability with business development and commercialisation
- Grant writing and funding acquisition
- Development and implementation of projects
- Previous experience fundraising in a growing not-for-profit/charity with a national footprint is desirable
Board Member Requirements:
- Strong values alignment with Connect42 and commitment to 100 per cent literacy
- Previous board experience, GAICD qualified highly regarded
- Knowledge of the organisation and the relevant industry
- Sufficient time availability for board duties
- Strong heart centred interpersonal skills
